[Hollywood] Reese Witherspoon marries Jim Toth

‘Outlandish' money waste sinks Madonna's Malawi plans Lindsay to Drop 'Lohan' from her name, says Mom Renee Zellweger takes her stuff and goes home

DAILY GOSSIP: March 28, 2011 by Ned Ehrbar

As predicted, Reese Witherspoon and fiancé Jim Toth tied the knot over the weekend at her Ojai, Calif., ranch, according to Us Weekly. The small ceremony was reportedly performed in front of 120 guests, including Tobey Maguire, Renee Zellweger and Alyssa Milano, and Witherspoon’s two children with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe were part of the ceremony. The pair were engaged in December when Toth bought Witherspoon a $250,000 engagement ring.

Lindsay Lohan will no longer be a Lohan, according to her mother, Dina Lohan. "Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and just going by Lindsay," Dina tells Popeater. "Plus, me and [younger daughter] Ali will be officially changing our last names back to my maiden name, Sullivan." And while the move is clearly meant to send a message to Lindsay’s father, Michael Lohan, it could be a good career move as well. "So many of the greatest people in showbiz are known by just their first name,” a source says. “Look at Oprah and Beyonce. Now you can add Lindsay to that list."

After already sinking more than $4 million into the project, Madonna’s plans for a school in Malawi have been scrapped, according to the New York Times. "A thoughtful decision has been made to discontinue plans for the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls, as it was originally conceived," a spokesman tells the newspaper. Madonna and her manager, along with a newly formed “caretaker board,” have replaced the foundation's board of directors after auditors reported “outlandish” wastes of money, including spending foundation funds on cars, golf memberships and a chauffeur for the school's director. "I'm frustrated that our education work has not moved forward in a faster way," Madonna said in a statement.

Any chance of Renee Zellweger and Bradley Cooper reconciling seems to be fading fast, as Zellweger was seen moving her things out of Cooper’s home late last week, according to Hollyscoop. But she clearly wasn’t letting the task get her down. “She seems to be handling the breakup well," a witness says. "She had a big smile on her face and a skip in her step." Cooper was reportedly not at home during the chore.

Charlie Sheen’s claims that his planned live shows across the U.S. sold out quickly might not be exactly true, as thousands of tickets are still available, according to Popeater. "Tickets are available to all of his shows in every price range," a source says. "Everyone, including Charlie, got greedy asking over $575 for some tickets. They booked way too many dates at way too many venues, and then Charlie was all over TV giving it away for free.” And sources close to Sheen say the poor sales could mean scrapping the tour all together: "His ego couldn't handle playing to a half-empty house,” a source says. “He would rather dump the entire tour than admit he's losing."

Bret Michaels is suing CBS and the Tony Awards over an onstage mishap at the 2009 awards when he was hit in the head with a moving set piece at the end of a musical number, according to TMZ. Though he was only hospitalized for a broken nose and cut lip after the show, his suit maintains that the incident was responsible for the life-threatening brain hemorrhage he suffered six months later. "One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma -- exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards," the suit, filed in L.A. Superior Court, states.
