It’s been quite a week for Javiar Bardem. Not only was he nominated for an Oscar for his work in “Biutiful,” but his wife, Penelope Cruz, gave birth to their first child, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais. The baby, reportedly a boy, was born at Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
They’re already expecting a baby this summer, and now Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have a wedding to plan as well, according to the Sun. The pair secretly got engaged recently, announcing it to friends and family at a private party in London this week. “It was an intimate party,” a source says. “They kept their engagement secret as they wanted to celebrate with their nearest and dearest before it became public knowledge.”
Scarlett Johansson and “Saturday Night Live” star Jason Sudeikis may be healing their broken hearts with each other, according to Life & Style. Johansson, who is divorcing Ryan Reynolds, and Sudeikis, who recently split from January Jones, were spotted at dinner in L.A. recently with fellow “SNL” cast-member Will Forte and a date. “It definitely looked like a double date,” a source says. “Scarlett and Jason were flirting and making lots of eye contact. He reached across the table twice to grab her hand.”
Katie Holmes has a new movie, “the Son of No One,” at the Sundance Film Festival, but her performance is not getting the kind of response she’d like, with many audience members walking out before it finished, according to Us Weekly. “When Katie showed up on screen, there was a collective groan,” a source says of the film, in which Holmes stars as the wife of a cop played by Channing Tatum. “They have her cursing a lot. And when she swore, there were chuckles.”
She may have been up for an Oscar last year and recently split from Shia LaBeouf, but Carey Mulligan still doesn’t get recognized out in public — not that she’s complaining. “Hand on heart, I’ve never been stopped in the street by anyone. Ever. No one recognizes me, which is great,” she tells Look magazine. “I was sitting in a gondola at the Telluride Film Festival with six people who had just watched ‘Never Let Me Go.’ They were having a conversation about it and criticizing it, and I was sitting there and they had no idea.”
