With Dr. Conrad Murray convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, the late pop star’s parents are “ecstatic,” they tell TMZ, adding that they “can’t wait to go home and share this day with Michael’s children.” Murray will remain in jail until his November 29 sentencing. “We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and we couldn’t hold back tears of joy in the courtroom,” Joe and Katherine Jackson said in a statement after the verdict. “Even though nothing can bring back our son, justice has finally been served.”
Hugh Hefner is excited about Lindsay Lohan’s upcoming appearance in Playboy, saying the actress’ all-revealing photo spread is “classy, very classy,” he tells the Insider. “It's a classic tribute inspired by the original Tom Kelly nude pictorial of Marilyn Monroe, a portion of which was the original playmate in the very first issue of Playboy.” And apparently readers will be treated to Lohan’s words as well. "The pictorial is absolutely fantastic and very tasteful," Lohan's rep says, "and will be accompanied by an interview that will let readers see another side of Lindsay."
While Justin Bieber is reportedly prepared to take a paternity test to disprove a fan’s claims he fathered her 4-month-old son, he’s not waiting to voice his displeasure at the scandal. “There’s been a lot of crap on the internet lately, but I’ve pulled through,” he told press at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Belfast, Ireland over the weekend, according to Hollyscoop. Bieber’s girlfriend, Selena Gomez — who was hosting the event — was less inclined to address the issue. When Katy Perry tried to press her on the baby drama, Gomez simply replied, “He’s cute, isn’t he?”
Jessica Chastain has been cast as Princess Diana in “Caught in Flight,” a film about her alleged affair with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan, IndieWire reports. According to a press release, the film is "a love story between a princess locked in a tower and an ordinary man," and is set to begin filming in Pakistan, Angola and France in March 2012. Diana is said to have had a two-year affair with Khan leading up to her death in 1997.
Adele has undergone surgery to repair her damaged vocal chords and is said to be recovering nicely, according to Rolling Stone. Her doctor "expects Adele to make a full recovery from her laser microsurgery," according to a statement from Massachussetts General Hospital's Voice Center, where the operation was performed. The singer was forced to cancel the remainder of her concerts and appearances for the year due to a hemorrhaged vocal chord.
A night out in Hollywood turned bloody for Avril Lavigne and boyfriend Brody Jenner, who received stitches for a head wound after rushing to Lavigne’s defense during a bar fight at the Roosevelt Hotel, according to TMZ. “I don’t fight. I don’t believe in it. To clear things up I got attacked by five people last night out of nowhere. Not cool,” Lavigne posted to Twitter following the incident. She added that she was injured along with Janner — “as in black eye, bloody nose, hair ripped out, scratches, bruises and cuts,” she tweeted. “So not OK to be abusive to others. Violence is never the answer.”
